Estate Announce Partnership with Sony Mobile

On Monday 24th February 2014, The Estate of Michael Jackson announced a partnership with Sony Mobile, through their brand new Xperia range. Sony Mobile insist that there is much to come from this partnership over the next year. The first promotional efforts in the partnership comes in the form of unreleased track ‘Slave to the Rhythm’ which features on the commercial. However news of whether the song will be available for download or purchase remains to be seen.

Following one of the most talked about photographs of 2013, Iconic reached out to famed photographer Scott Christopher to discuss photographing the King of Pop. In doing so Scott Christopher not only gave a fascinating insight but presented us with this stunning, never-before seen image for the cover.

During our exclusive interview, Scott Christopher told our resident writer Kate that he had unseen shots of Michael and he would love to offer one for the cover. We were delighted to accept.

Since its release, the Issue 13 cover has gone global and fans have been sharing the image across social media. We’re extremely proud to debut such an incredible image to the world and thank Mr Christopher for his generosity. read more

Jonathan Morrish, former Sony Music Executive sat down with Iconic as the key feature for our Business themed issue – The Businessman. Here is just a snippet from the interview

How did you first get to work with the Jacksons?

The first time I met Michael was the Jubilee year of 1977 when the Jacksons performed at the Glasgow Apollo. The Jacksons performed and there is a great shot of Michael shaking hands with the Queen. I think this was the first time I met him. I remember taking a woman from the Daily Mirror who needed to do an interview with the band. They were all teenagers and didn’t give her much information and this was supposed to be the centre spread for the Daily Mirror so she was pretty stressed out! read more

U.S to Commemorate Michael on stamps?

It looks like Michael Jackson might be heading to the stamp world. The King of Pop’s face, which has been memorialized on many items might get the stamp treatment. Jackson among other famous faces including Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, activist Harvey Milk, Charlton Heston, and Steve Jobs are just some of the new faces being considered to hit the local postal office within the next two years. These stamps will start being manufactured throughout this year and through 2016. Other figures that will join the aforementioned are the iconic Tonight Show host Johnny Carson, and James Brown. read more
