MJ Chart Data Week of September 03, 2022

Michael Jackson Birthday has passed and yes, while we could see some increases in the number of streams and downloads, it was not enough to get Michael higher in the Charts worldwide.

“Thriller” on Spotify raised on a daily basis after August 29:
Aug. 29 – 416,152,281 (+210,217)
Aug. 30 – 416,367,312 (+215,031)
Aug. 31 – 416,584,032 (+216,720)
Sept. 1 – 416,806,248 (+222,216)

And “Chicago” has now surpassed 37 million streams on Spotify.

In The US, “Billie Jean” has fallen to #193 from #188 on the Billboard Global 200 and lost 10 spots on the Billboard Top 100 artist finishing the week at #56.

The album “Thriller” moves up 3 spots on Billboard’s “US Vinyl Albums” chart at #7.

In the UK Official Charts, “Number Ones” is at #34 in the Top 100 Album and #22 in the Top 100 Streams.

But for his Birthday, All new US certifications by RIAA have been updated and Michael Jackson is now the first artist to have Diamond certifications for Albums and singles:
The Lady in My Life – Gold (500,000)
The Girl Is Mine – Platinum (1,000,000)
P.Y.T. – 4x Platinum (4,000,000)
Beat It – 8x Platinum (8,000,000)
Billie Jean – Diamond (10,000,000)
Thriller – Diamond (10,000,000; single)

Also in the Charts news, “Rockin’ Robin” has now surpassed 50 million streams on Spotify and Michael Jackson has now earned over 1 billion on-demand streams in the US in 2022.

With Halloween around the corner and the re-release of Thriller in November, expect big numbers in the charts at the end of the year!
