MJ Chart Data Week of November 7, 2020

What a week it’s been! Halloween really does bring MJ back to where he belongs & that is to the top!

Unfortunately, no sign of Thriller on Billboard Hot 100 this week (mainly because people were listening & buying Thriller on Saturday & Billboards final day for tracking is Thursday soo I suppose stay tuned to see the results next Saturday.

Starting with YouTube. We officially broke 2017 Halloween “most views in a day” record with 1,469,680 views!!! (1,402,999 previously).

I usually report past 24 hours numbers on my MJChartData account on Twitter and I kept track of Thriller all day & I got over 1,900,000 views on the same website but it didn’t really show up on the final numbers so I’m not entirely sure how it works…

But most of all, Thriller short film surpassed 700 million views on YouTube on Halloween which was expected on November 11th!

Smooth Criminal also got over a million views on Halloween. Billie Jean about 900,000 and short version of Thriller had over 500,000 views too!

On iTunes Thriller (song) was a hot mess. At one-point different versions of Thriller held 2 spots on US top 10, same thing happened in the UK & Canada but one thing I can tell you is that it was Top 3 in the US & Ireland. Top 5 in Canada. Top 10 in the UK & Brazil. (You can scroll through my Twitter account for more details if you’d like. I was tweeting updates all day).

It also charted on Spotify in some countries and here’s how it goes.

Global – #20 with 2,427,258 streams.

United States – #9 with 1,107,946 streams.

United Kingdom – #5 with 316,078 streams.

Canada – #6 with 200,736 streams.

Ireland – #5 with 41,033 streams.

Spotify monthly listeners kept going up even after Halloween & numbers only started dropping yesterday but we got to 27,898,694 monthly listeners which is most we’ve had since Drakes Don’t Matter to Me was released when MJ surpassed 30 million monthly listeners.

Speaking of Don’t Matter To Me… We’ve managed to get rid of it from MJs popular songs list on Spotify. First time since 2018 & I’m just happy to know that more people listen to MJ classics than recycled one off autotuned MJ vocal.

Apple Music was no exception of course. Did much better than Spotify but sadly they don’t publish their stream numbers, only chart positions. So heres how it went… and this is Top 10 only.

#2 in Ireland
#3 in Canada
#4 in United States
#6 in United Kingdom
And #10 in Norway.

As predicted Thriller came back on the UKs charts.
