getTV honors Black History Month with Jackson 5 included.

getTV will be honoring Black History Month on Mondays in February. The channel will be airing Variety lineups that will be featuring rare interviews and performances by groundbreaking African-American icons. Performers like Lena Horne, Richard Pryor, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson will be featured this month. The event kicks off on February 1 at 9 p.m. EST. The show is “The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour” and the guest is Michael Jackson at age 14 and the Jackson 5. The Jackson 5 performs songs, “Lookin’ Through The Windows” and “Ben.” After the “Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour,” the “Merv Griffin Show” is airing at 10 p.m. EST. The guests are Richard Pryor and Eartha Kitt.

Another highlight is on February 15 with the 1968 “Bing Crosby Special.” Airing at 8 p.m. EST, the guests on the show are Diana Ross & The Supremes. Song highlights from the show are “Do Not Forsake Me,” “I Say A Little Prayer” and “Little Green Apples.” “The Merv Griffin Show” is next on the list at 10 p.m. EST. The guest on the show is Moms Mabley. The show also includes Broadway superstar Leslie Uggams.

getTV showcases the career of Sidney Poitier on their Friday Night Spotlight. It’s a special birthday block that starts at 8 p.m. EST. The film to air then is “All The Young Men,” which also starred Alan Ladd. The other movie to air that night is “The Bedford Incident” at 10:05 p.m. EST. Richard Widmark starred with Poitier in the film. Next up is the lineup for February 22. Ray Charles is the guest in the 1968 special, “Andy Williams Kaleidoscope Company.” It will be airing at 9 p.m. EST. After that special is back to the “Merv Griffin Show” with guest Aretha Franklin.

The last night is on February 29. The first show to air is a memorable episode of “The Judy Garland Show.” The guest is Lena Horne. The special will be airing at 8 p.m. EST. After that is Dionne Warwick’s first television special, “Dionne Warwick-Souled Out.” “The Merv Griffin Show ends the lineup at 10 p.m. ET. The special guests are Harry Belafonte and Martin Luther King Jr. The episode is one of King’s rare talk show appearances. In the episode he talks about improving race relations, importance of peaceful demonstrations, and the Vietnam War. So that’s what getTV will be airing to honor Black History Month.
