Fans attending “MJ – Das Michael Jackson Musical” in Hamburg tonight, September 4, are in for an extra-special treat as German pop star Nico Santos joins the cast as a special guest.
The production announced the surprise appearance on social media, revealing that Santos will take the stage with the cast following tonight’s performance.
The musical shared:
“As a huge Michael Jackson fan, Nico is already super excited to share his passion with our cast and experience this special evening with us.”
For one night only, Santos will perform several songs together with the cast after the regular show.
Santos himself has also expressed his excitement about the opportunity, describing himself as a huge Michael Jackson fan and saying that Michael Jackson’s songs and performances have accompanied him throughout his life. He described appearing with the Hamburg cast as a dream come true.
Who Is Nico Santos?
For fans who may not immediately recognise his name, Nico Santos is a German singer and songwriter who has become one of Germany’s most successful pop artists in recent years.
Born in Bremen in 1993 to Filipino parents, Santos began his musical career writing and producing songs before establishing himself as a recording artist. He broke through internationally with his 2017 single “Rooftop,” which became a major hit in Germany and across Europe.
His debut album, Streets of Gold, followed in 2018 and produced further successful singles including “Safe,” “Unforgettable” and “Better.” His music has since earned him multiple awards and chart successes.
Santos has also collaborated with a number of major artists and songwriters throughout his career, establishing himself as one of the prominent names in contemporary German pop music.
But tonight’s appearance is particularly personal for Santos.

A Special Night In Hamburg
The special appearance will take place at Stage Theater an der Elbe, home of the Hamburg production since its premiere in December 2024.
Rather than becoming part of the musical itself, Santos will appear after the regular performance, joining the cast for a special musical moment that will happen only on September 4.
