Colombia screams “They Don’t Care About Us”

The last few years, many protests have occurred around the world. In Myanmar, people raised against a Military Coup, countries around the world have been protesting against governments related to COVID-19, flight attendants against big air-corporations, Black Lives Matter and now Colombia.

Columbian people have taken to the streets to protest again a new Tax reform which might put many middle class citizens into poverty.

The government response was pretty violent with over 24 deaths recorded so far and the world is condemning the situation.

During one of the protest in Colombia, people marched and sang “They Don’t Care About Us”:

All those protests have one thing in common: The people all sang “They Don’t Care About Us”!

25 years after the release of Michael Jackson’s “They Don’t Care About Us”, it seems that the song has became a people anthem against tyranny, injustice and inequality!

Was it the goal of Michael Jackson all along to create such powerful song that the people of the world will be using it and become the “song of the people”?

Michael Jackson travelled the world and visited very poor and unequal countries on all continents. He saw the inequality, the injustice, the wars, the despair of people and he wrote that song!

“They Don’t Care about us” has become one of the most signficant songs in michael’s catalogue […] it’s a call for social justice that highlights the struggles of ordinary people at the hands of the establishment. its resurgence in recent years demonstrates its lyrical relevance and remains a testament to michael’s social consciousness.”
