The next chapter of MJ – The Michael Jackson Musical is taking shape in the Netherlands, with auditions now officially open for the highly anticipated Dutch production of the Tony Award-winning musical celebrating the life, music and creative genius of Michael Jackson.
Following successful productions on Broadway, the West End, in Australia and Hamburg, MJ is now looking for its Dutch cast and aspiring singers, dancers and actors have until August 24, 2026 to register.
The musical takes audiences behind the scenes of Michael Jackson’s legendary 1992 Dangerous World Tour, exploring the creative process behind the production and offering a glimpse into the extraordinary perfectionism and artistic vision that helped make Michael one of the greatest entertainers of all time.
Written by Lynn Nottage, directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, with musical supervision by David Holcenberg, MJ features some of Michael Jackson’s most iconic music and choreography.
Who Are They Looking For?
The Dutch production is casting excellent singers, dancers and actors for a range of principal and ensemble roles.
Among the roles being cast are:
- MJ — playing age 25–35
- Michael — playing age 18–25
- Rob / Joseph Jackson — playing age 40–55
- Kate / Katherine Jackson — playing age 30–49
- Nick / Berry Gordy — playing age 40–55
- Tito Jackson / Quincy Jones — playing age 30–40
- Rachel — playing age 25–35
- Alejandro — playing age 30–40
- Dave — playing age 40–50
The production is also seeking ensemble members and swings, including technical and athletic all-rounders, as well as singer swings and dance swings.
There will also be roles for Little Michael and Little Marlon, although auditions for those two roles will take place at a later date. Further details will be announced officially.
Looking For The Next MJ
The search for the actor who will step into Michael Jackson’s shoes is naturally one of the most anticipated elements of the casting process.
The role requires far more than simply looking or dancing like Michael. MJ demands performers capable of combining singing, acting and extraordinary movement while capturing the spirit of an artist whose influence continues to resonate around the world.
For anyone who has dreamed of performing Michael’s legendary music on stage, this could be the opportunity.
How To Audition
Applications are online only through CASTAPP. Registrations sent by email will not be processed.
Applicants must:
- Register before August 24, 2026
- Complete their CASTAPP profile
- Ensure all information is up to date
- State which role they would like to be considered for
- Upload relevant material supporting their application
Auditions will take place in Amsterdam Zuid between September 14 and November 20, 2026, with in-person attendance required.
