OK! I love a good movie poster. It’s the first part of a movie’s promotion and can really set the tone for what’s to come. If the poster is boring, I might not even go see the movie. Movie fans are everywhere, and there’s no shortage of creative talent out there.
With “Michael,” the upcoming biopic coming out in April, fans and content creators have been busy designing amazing alternative posters, especially the movie fans! And that’s exactly the case with Bucky.
Bucky Seventysix, also known as 70.6ix, is an Australian cinematic graphic designer who has been creating alternative movie posters for years. With the arrival of “Michael,” he has created multiple alternative designs.
What I really like about his work is how he takes some of Michael’s iconic short films and transforms them into stunning movie posters.
His designs are slick and capture the feel of classic ’80s movie posters like “The Goonies” and “Gremlins,” when poster artists created detailed, painting-style scenes to represent the film. That’s the exact look Bucky has recreated with “Michael.” Here are some examples:
