Michael Jackson’s legendary dance moves continue to inspire performers across generations, and now even humanoid robots are getting in on the action!
A video shared this week shows AGIBOT’s A3 humanoid robot performing several Michael Jackson-inspired dance moves during the company’s Innovation Day 2026 in Shanghai, China.
Dressed in an outfit unmistakably inspired by Michael Jackson, featuring a black fedora, black jacket, white shirt and dark trousers, the robot demonstrated a series of movements including signature poses, spins, arm gestures and gliding footwork.
But the highlight was undoubtedly the moonwalk!
The robot attempted to recreate Michael Jackson’s iconic backward-gliding movement, one of the most recognisable dance steps in entertainment history.
The demonstration took place on October 29 at the Shanghai World Expo Center, where AGIBOT presented its latest developments in humanoid robotics and artificial intelligence. The event also introduced new hardware, AI models and technologies designed to bring robots closer to practical applications in entertainment, business and industrial environments.
AGIBOT’s A3 is a full-sized humanoid robot standing approximately 173 centimetres tall and weighing 55 kilograms. According to the company, its capabilities include dynamic movement, interaction and coordinated performances, making it suitable for entertainment and commercial demonstrations.
While a robot performing the moonwalk may still look unusual, the demonstration is another reminder of Michael Jackson’s extraordinary cultural influence. More than four decades after the moonwalk became one of his signature movements, his choreography remains instantly recognisable, even when performed by a machine.
And if Michael Jackson could inspire generations of dancers worldwide, perhaps it was only a matter of time before robots joined them on the dance floor!
