Less than three months after its release, Michael: Songs From the Motion Picture has achieved its first official sales certification.
The official soundtrack to the Michael biopic has now been certified Gold in Italy by the Italian music industry, recognizing sales equivalent to 25,000 units in the country. The achievement marks the first certification for the album since its release on April 24, 2026.
Featuring 13 songs spanning Michael Jackson’s remarkable career, from his early days with the Jackson 5 through classics from Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad, the soundtrack accompanied the worldwide release of the highly successful Michael film.
Although the soundtrack has yet to receive certifications in other territories, it performed strongly on charts around the world. The album reached the Top 5 in Italy, Germany, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, while also entering the Top 20 in Australia, Canada, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Japan and the United States.
The Gold award in Italy is another indication that interest in Michael Jackson’s catalog remains exceptionally strong. Combined with the continued worldwide success of the Michael biopic, the soundtrack has introduced some of Jackson’s most iconic recordings to a new generation while reminding longtime fans why his music continues to resonate across the globe.
With the film still playing in select theaters and continuing to attract audiences worldwide, additional certifications for the soundtrack could follow in the coming months.
