Keiynan Lonsdale embodies Michael Jackson in new video

We all know Keiynan Lonsdale, the Australian-born actor from “The Flash” and “Love Simon” and we also know he is a big MJ fan! He paid tribute to the King of Pop multiple times [see here]

Keiynan just released a new single called “Gods of the Disco” from his album “Rainbow Boy”.

The song is joined with a video which is a mix of visuals between Off The Wall -feel, Smooth Criminal -like scenes and dance groups and Thriller-esque parts.

Not only Keiynan was clearly inspired by Michael with the look (hats, colourful jackets) but also with the dance moves!

It all starts with a feel of Off The Wall era, “Don’t Stop ‘Till You Get Enough” vibes to move fast to a more “Smooth Criminal” scenery with even a silent moment with all the dancers like in the MJ short film. To quickly turn to a Thriller-esque part!

Check out the video here:

“I like to say that it’s me performing in front of my fears,” said Lonsdale, who developed the video’s concept with director Chris Coats. “To me, the song is about freedom. It’s about letting out your inner freak. But before you can own your freedom, you have to cross over and face your fears. So I wanted to physically represent those fears.”

“I’m trying to meet the world where it’s at,” he said. “I feel like we’re in an age of disco rebirth because of what the world’s been through. There are racial injustices that continue. No one’s been able to dance or connect. But after that comes a healing of mind, body and spirit. That’s what I want to usher in musically.”
