Invincible Album gets a re-issue for National Album Day

Invincible turns 25 years old this October and it is clear that Sony Music is celebrating somehow. However, unlike the rumours of additional songs on the album sparked a few weeks ago by a social media post reading “Invincible 25 is coming”, this is just a re-issue in a special format.

As part of National Album Day 2026, Invincible will be re-issued as a 2LP set on Marbled Stone Grey vinyl, giving collectors a new physical edition of Michael Jackson’s final studio album.

National Album Day takes place in the UK on Saturday, October 17, with this year’s theme being “Icons”, celebrating some of the most influential and enduring albums and artists in music history.

Invincible is among a particularly impressive list of albums selected for this year’s celebration, alongside releases from artists including George Michael, Donna Summer, Billy Joel, Pink Floyd, Sade, Dire Straits, The Who, Aretha Franklin, New Order, Tears For Fears, The Velvet Underground and many more.

Release details

The Marbled Stone Grey 2LP will be released in the UK on October 17, as part of National Album Day.

The same colour variant will also be released outside the UK on October 16, while a standard black vinyl 2LP edition will be released worldwide on the same date.

For the United States, a pre-order for the Marbled Stone Grey edition is expected to be announced immediately following the National Album Day announcement. This will be a direct-to-consumer 2LP edition, with a wider pre-order for the black vinyl edition also expected to be made available.

The current schedule is:

October 16, 2026
Invincible 2LP – Marbled Stone Grey vinyl, outside the UK
Invincible 2LP – Black vinyl, worldwide

October 17, 2026
Invincible 2LP – Marbled Stone Grey vinyl, UK National Album Day release

Originally released on October 30, 2001, Invincible was Michael Jackson’s tenth and final studio album. The album features the singles “You Rock My World,” “Cry,” “Butterflies” and “Heaven Can Wait,” as well as tracks including “Whatever Happens,” “Speechless,” “Break of Dawn,” “Don’t Walk Away” and “Threatened.”

The album’s 25th anniversary falls on October 30, 2026, meaning the National Album Day release arrives just two weeks before the actual anniversary.

While this release does not appear to be the expanded Invincible 25 project some fans began speculating about following the “Invincible 25 is coming” social media post, it does at least confirm that the album is receiving some attention for its 25th anniversary year.

And with Invincible now officially part of National Album Day’s “Icons” celebrations, Michael Jackson’s final studio album will once again be available in a new vinyl format for collectors.
