Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson showed his support for Jaafar Jackson and the Michael movie by hosting a special For Your Consideration (FYC) screening in Beverly Hills on November 3.
The exclusive event took place at the WME Screening Room, bringing together Hollywood’s awards-season campaign and three major names connected to the evening: Johnson, Jaafar Jackson and Colman Domingo.
The Rock Introduces Michael
Johnson introduced the screening before audiences watched Michael, the Lionsgate biopic celebrating the life and legacy of Michael Jackson.
Following the screening, attendees were treated to a Q&A session featuring Jaafar Jackson and Colman Domingo, who plays Joe Jackson in the film. The evening also included a reception, giving guests an opportunity to meet and celebrate the movie.
The event was part of Lionsgate’s ongoing For Your Consideration campaign, which is designed to bring Michael to the attention of awards voters and members of the entertainment industry.
Jaafar Jackson’s Awards Season Journey
Jaafar continues to make an impressive impression during the film’s awards-season campaign. His portrayal of his uncle has attracted considerable attention, with industry screenings providing opportunities for audiences and professionals to hear directly from him about the experience of bringing Michael Jackson to the big screen.
The November 3 event followed another Los Angeles screening earlier that afternoon at the Meryl Streep Center for Performing Artists, where Jaafar and Colman Domingo also participated in a Q&A.
With Dwayne Johnson lending his presence to the campaign, the evening represented another major Hollywood moment for Michael and its leading star.
