Just days before Michael Jackson’s birthday on August 29, Motown is giving fans another opportunity to celebrate the King of Pop’s early musical legacy with a new vinyl reissue of Michael Jackson – The Definitive Collection.
Shipping from August 28, 2026, the release will be available in two editions: a standard black 1LP and an exclusive Pumpkin Spice Orange coloured vinyl, offering collectors and vinyl enthusiasts a fresh way to enjoy some of Michael’s most beloved Motown recordings.
Originally released as a career-spanning compilation of Michael’s Motown years, The Definitive Collection brings together 14 classic recordings, showcasing both his incredible work with The Jackson 5 and his successful early solo career.
The album opens with seven Jackson 5 favourites, including timeless hits such as “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” “I’ll Be There,” “The Love You Save,” and “Dancing Machine.” Side B shifts the spotlight to Michael’s solo recordings, featuring classics including “Got To Be There,” “Ben,” “Rockin’ Robin,” “I Wanna Be Where You Are,” “One Day In Your Life,” “We’re Almost There,” and “Farewell My Summer Love.”
Beyond the music itself, the package includes an essay by acclaimed author David Ritz, detailed track annotations, and a collection of rare photographs sourced from the Motown Archives, providing additional insight into Michael’s formative years as one of music’s brightest young stars.
Motown also confirms that all tracks have been newly remastered, giving these classic recordings improved sound quality while preserving the warmth and charm of Michael’s original performances.
