Where are they now? Sybil Azur

Ok! You might not know Sybil Azur but if I tell you she got your number and she know your game… That’s right! Sybil is Susie in “Blood On The Dance Floor” dancing with Michael Jackson.

Sybil started dancing professionally when she was 14 and she had a successful over a decade long career in television, film and on stage. She toured with Paula Abdul, Babyface and Earth, Wind & Fire and travel the world. She also worked on the shows such as “The Game”, “Cougar Town” and “The Jamie Foxx Show”.

But her talent doesn’t stop as a dancer and actress, she also co-directed and co-produced a documentary about becoming a mother “Pushing Motherhood” when she was pregnant with her first child.

But what Michael Jackson fans will remember is her role as Susie in “Blood On The Dance Floor”

In 2015, we were lucky enough to talk to Susie, sorry Sybil for Iconic Magazine Issue #20.

“We rehearsed for like 5 days and filmed for 2 or 3 days and because we were doing Salsa and he didn’t know anything about Salsa and he was really opened to learning and very eager and excited! […] He was so excited about it! I remember he told me at the end of the shooting he said “This is going to be legendary!” […] it was fun to see how passionate he was about his work.” *

Since then and especially after 2017, Sybil has became an activist and an advocate for the environment, the forward movement of Black people in America and the election of Democratic representatives in all levels of government.

She since became a volunteer to “Climate Reality Los Angeles”, “Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives” and political campaigns!

She since lead a successful campaign to get the Los Angeles Unified School District, which is the second largest school district in America, to commit to transitioning to 100% clean and using renewable energy. She has become a committee chair at “LA Climate Reality” which inspired the Green Schools Campaign.

We are sure Michael would have loved what Sybil has done so far especially with her fight for Climate Change and educate children of the importance of empathy and clean energy.
