Kingvention is around the corner and if you haven’t already purchased your ticket, make sure you do so sooner rather than later!
If you are uncertain to attend, here is what you can expect to see, hear and experience on the first day of the ONLY Michael Jackson Fan Convention of its kind in the world:
Kingvention will kick off on Saturday 28 October at 10:30am and it will be the longest of the two-day event! Over 14hrs of PURE Michael Jackson!
Let’s start with the live interviews with some of the King of Pop’s collaborators. The first one will be Rupert Wainwright.
Rupert Wainwright is an award winning film director who worked with Michael Jackson to create The HIStory Teaser, which is arguably the biggest promotional film for any album released by a music artist. Rupert will take Kingvention attendees behind the scenes of Michael’s most exciting film-project.
in conjunction with Rupert’s live interview, a full exhibition on Michael Jackson’s Teaser will be available for all attendees to see from 10:30am to 6pm. The exhibition will includes facts, processes making the Teaser and some never-before seen surprises the fans will love!
The second special guest to take the stage will be John Van Nest. While the name might not be known by many fans, John worked in the studio with Michael over the course of 18 years on albums such as Victory, Thriller and HIStory. This is your chance to take a deep-dive into some of Michael Jackson’s most beloved albums as John will tell you about the creative process, taking you through some of those HIStoric recording sessions – Including that with The Notorious B.I.G for This Time Around.
After the lunch break, the last special guest will tell all Kingvention attendees his experience working with Michael Jackson on “GHOSTS”. Nicholas Pike is an acclaimed composer with an extensive repertoire in film and television. He was personally selected by Michael Jackson to work on the music score for Michael Jackson’s Ghosts.
Following Nicholas’ interview, it makes perfect sense to watch “GHOSTS” (for educational purposes of course!) on a big LED Wall in a room that has a Ghostly similarity to the short film!
But there are also new features this year!! In the spirit of a true convention, Kingvention will offer fans the opportunity to sit and participate to Discussion sessions. The first one will be at 2:30pm with Elizabeth Amisu who will be introducing the fans to Michael Jackson Studies. The second one will be The Big MJ Debate at 6.15pm where Charlotte, Pez and Ilia will have a live debate on the topic “Is the Estate fading Michael into the background?”.
“2000 Watts” the 3D experience will come back this year after the massive success of 2022. Also present, “MJ & Japan”, an exhibit from Nobuyuki Momose directly from Japan.
But there is more that we still cannot tell you yet about!
They’ll also be an opportunity to WIN access to a special feature title “7”.

After the Meet & Greet of all 4 VIP guests, including Craig Lamont Parks, it will be time to party and dance on Michael Jackson and the Jacksons’ tunes! This year Kingvention will have two after parties: “Club 30’s After Party” and “Is It Scary After Party”. You will be able to walk freely between the two rooms depending on your mood.
The day will end at 1am and after a well deserved rest, it will be time for Kingvention 2023 Day 2! But that will be another story!
