Following our previous report on Universal Music Japan’s upcoming Motown-era reissue campaign, new details have now been confirmed regarding exclusive purchaser benefits tied to these releases.
To coincide with the upcoming biopic Michael, Michael Jackson and Jackson 5’s Motown catalogue will be celebrated with the release of the new compilation Michael Jackson & Jackson 5 – The Best (CD and LP), alongside eight classic albums from their early years. Fans who pre-order or purchase any of these titles will be eligible to receive exclusive bonuses, available on a first-come, first-served basis and in limited quantities.
The release schedule confirms that all CD editions will be available on May 20, while the LP editions will follow on June 10. Availability of these bonuses may vary depending on the retailer, and customers are advised to check with individual stores in advance. For purchases made through Amazon, specific bonus items have also been outlined: CD buyers will receive a mega jacket (240×240mm) for each title, while LP purchases will include both of the standard bonus items offered in this campaign.
The first bonus consists of an A4 clear file, which will be available with select editions of Michael Jackson & Jackson 5 – The Best, including the Deluxe Edition 2CD SHM-CD, the standard 1CD SHM-CD, and the LP version.
The second bonus is a specially designed sticker sheet that compiles the artwork of all nine releases in this campaign—the new compilation along with the eight Motown reissues—into a single collectible item. This sticker sheet will be offered with purchases of any of the eight reissued albums, whether on CD or LP.
The eight titles included in the reissue campaign trace the early success of the Jackson 5 and the solo beginnings of Michael Jackson. These include Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5, ABC, Third Album, Maybe Tomorrow, as well as Jackson’s solo works Got to Be There, Ben, Music and Me, and Forever Michael.
With limited bonuses, multiple formats, and renewed attention driven by the forthcoming biopic, this campaign offers fans and collectors a compelling opportunity to revisit the foundational era of one of music’s most influential artists.
