The Top Tens: Voted by the people of the world

Ok! Call me ignorant but I did not know that a full website called “The Top Tens” has been going on since 2005 where people around the world can vote through over 200,000 top ten lists; from best actor to best worse food!

I just heard of this through an Iranian article stated that a R&B singer called Amir Tatloo (never heard of) has surpassed Michael Jackson in the Top Ten Best R&B Singer.

I was at first confused. How can an artist that I have never heard of could beat Michael Jackson as a R&B singer? So I looked at first at the artist, and I got even more confused as it will be impossible for this singer to surpass Michael on anything (no offence intended). So I looked at this Top Tens website.

It was actually interesting. How does it work? People around the world submit their Top Ten lists, no matter the subject, and then when approved, people vote for their Top Ten and the item with the most votes climbs the list to the top.

The goal of this website is to measure what people on Earth think of each topic. It is great in a way (only if you know about the list and if you have internet in your country to vote) as it only based the voting system on people’s thoughts, tastes and opinions and not statistics or weird measurements (like today with the streaming counts).

So I had a deeper look and found Michael in few lists:

And the list of top tens goes on and on and they vary in all sorts of domains.

While I couldn’t see how many votes each list had, reading the terms and conditions and FAQs, I found that you can vote for all the active lists once a day. Meaning that if you vote today, you can register your vote again tomorrow and the day after and so on.

So it is not really accurate of what the people of the world think on each topic and clearly fans of Amir Tatloo have been voting like crazies on the R&B list. And it doesn’t mean Michael Jackson fans cannot do the same right? after all, the King of Pop has the biggest fandom in the world!

If you want to vote, click HERE to go to “The Top Tens” website and start voting. While this is fun, it can be addictive. You have been warned!
