The HIStory Statue from Best still looking for a new home

Peter van Gelder, the former manager of Best’s McDonald where one of the promotional HIStory Statue used to stand, retired on Sunday.

In the local news, he stated that he is still in the possession of the famous King of Pop’s huge artifact which is laying in a warehouse, location kept secret; and he is still looking for a new home for it.

In 2019, he and the McDonald’s franchise decided to remove the statue following the backlash of “Leaving Neverland” but he was determined to find a new home for the statue. The McDonald branch stated at the time “we donated the statue and the relics to the Dutch Michael Jackson Fan Club” but it seems that it wasn’t true and the search for a new owner was still on!

He also revealed that he spoke to over twenty candidates. The city of Almere in the Netherlands was the biggest contender where the city was hoping to hold the statue in a carpark alle called “Michael Jacksonplein” [Photo bellow]. But unfortunately, the opinions voted against it. Other contestants included a nightclub in province of Drenthe and a Castle owned by a Belgium Lord, all fell through as Van Gelder insists that the statue should be accessible to all Michael Jackson fans.

He also stated, “I don’t want to sell it, that’s not what I am about! I’m not actively looking for it myself. If someone comes forward, they are very welcome”

So if you can assure the statue will be taking care of, from shipping to the new home, which should be public for all fans to access it, you will have it! I guess that rules out my garden!
