It’s the 4th of May! Star Wars’ Day!
And no better day than this one to talk about one Star Wars Episode that all Star Wars fans might have forgotten: Captain EO!
The Empire of Star Wars led by the emperor George Lukas is one of the biggest movie franchise in the world since 1977!
Everyone in the world knows it, everyone saw at least one of those movies and with the new sagas and “Star Wars stories”, we often forget some of the past! Like the Ewoks movies (2 of them, no joke!) or “Willow” (Played by Warwick Davis), Captain Eo is often omitted by the Star Wars Fans!
Captain EO was released in 1986, directed by Francis Ford Coppola and Produced by Lukas. The 3D short film was specially created for Disney Theme Parks to go along side of Star Tour, a Star Wars themed part of the Disney parks! And of course staring the most famous pop star on the planet, Michael Jackson!
The 3D feature is so Star Wars! The design, the costumes, the lighting, the FX used are all the same! Even some of the spaceships designs are clearly from the imagination of Lukas!
Anyway, Michael Jackson fans reading this already know the story of Captain Eo! For the Star Wars fans, you might need to check it out!
Today with the new movie “SOLO, A Star Wars Story” coming to cinema soon, it’s just obvious to speak of those forgotten! Like Captain Eo!
Disney has now bought Lucasfilm and all the Star Wars franchise so it is just normal to think: “Hey Disney! Come on! Where is the DVD/Blu Ray???”
Ok, not that simple I know! Back then, the rights were divided between Lucasfilm, Walt Disney Pictures, Buena Vista Pictures and Michael Jackson!
Today, Disney owns obviously Walt Disney Pictures but also Buena Vista Pictures and Lucasfilm!
So why not releasing this amazing short film on DVD and Blu Ray?
Disney and the Michael Jackson Estate would need to talk about this! We already know that Disney is keen to do Captain EO’s products like announced in 2016 with the Captain EO infinity!
So let’s help them to make a decision and see how many of you are willing to buy Captain EOÂ on DVD/Blu Ray?
