THE COMPLETE MICHAEL JACKSON – Our Top Michael Jackson Book of 2018!

THE COMPLETE MICHAEL JACKSON
The Man, the Music, the Moves, the Magic

It’s seems the tides are finally turning. Publishers do want to print pro-Michael Jackson books and we’re here, where we’ve always been, ready to grab this moment!

Recently the shelves of book stores have been graced with a new MJ book, The Complete Michael Jackson, The Man, The Music, The Moves, The Magic, an all encompassing publication filled with high quality images and historical overviews.

As with any MJ book, it’s all about chronology and most importantly, getting it right! And this one doesn’t disappoint. Author Chris Roberts has done his due diligence and there’s no mixing of Victory and Bad Tour or suggesting that Getty images Picture is from History Tour in Madison Square Garden! (All common mistakes that so many publications have fallen foul to.)

The introduction in any publication about Michael is usually what sets the tone for the rest of the book. That’s why, once passing the famous toes, spotlighted poignantly in the corner of the inside page, It’s delighting to read such a positive, honest account of Michael’s life laden with descriptive terms that beautifully honour the true artist and global enigma that Michael is.

Filled with life-spanning high quality images, some rare and seldom seen, the book charts Michael’s life and career from beginning up until his passing in 09 split into three overarching sections – History, Music – album by album and Fashion, allowing Roberts to focus on the man and the music (and the fashion) in their own rights. Roberts chooses standout images to take on full pages to really show the Michael Jackson we know and love; On stage, on set, winning awards and having a good time with other celebrities.

The History section offers a fair overview of Michael’s life, mainly through his career achievements, split into the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s and pieces together many interviews, facts and soundbites to form a cohesive biography.

The Music section talks about just that, the music, and includes fact boxes listing the album’s personnel, initial chart performances and producers. You’ll be pleased to hear that Blood On The Dance Floor: History In The Mix does have its own chapter and Roberts offers a favourable review, particularly in regards to the five new tracks whilst aptly summing up its muted response in the U.S perfectly, by stating “…perhaps people were now more obsessed with Michael’s private life than his red-hot recordings.”

In the ‘Fashion’ section, Roberts lets Michael’s style do the talking and its evolution is told through images as oppose to text.

Finally, the appendix offers a full listing of all Michael’s albums, singles, tours and filmography, just for reference of course.

After Michael’s passing, the book shelves were awash with Michael Jackson books, many of which have now disappeared or ceased printing, so this book has been a welcome sight in retailers all over and it’s even in other languages too, meaning international fans can enjoy both the images AND Roberts’s words.

Overall, The Complete Michael Jackson packs everything in with precision to the key points of Michael’s career and with visual splendor. We are naming this book our Top Michael Jackson Book of 2018!
