Taiwan Gears Up for “Michael” Presales, Special Screening Set for April 21

Excitement is building in Taiwan as preparations ramp up for the release of “Michael,” the highly anticipated biopic centered on Michael Jackson. New details from local theater sources and industry insiders reveal a tightly controlled rollout, with presales and promotional activities beginning this week.

According to information gathered from theaters across Taiwan, presale invitations will officially begin on April 10. Fans attending participating cinemas will receive promotional posters, the same designs that have already circulated online, marking the first wave of official collectibles tied to the film’s release in the region.

However, not all merchandise seen internationally will make its way to Taiwan. The much-talked-about Fedora-themed popcorn buckets will largely be unavailable, with reports indicating that only a single cinema location may carry the exclusive item. This limited availability is expected to make it a rare collector’s piece for local fans.

Sources from Sony Music Taiwan also shed light on the broader promotional landscape. Collaboration between Sony Music Taiwan and Universal Pictures Taiwan appears to be minimal, with the film itself remaining the central focus. As a result, only limited information has been shared publicly. Still, confirmation has been given that Universal Pictures Taiwan is planning a dedicated event. At this stage, it remains unclear whether this will be a simple photo opportunity setup or something more elaborate for fans.

Adding to the intrigue, theater insiders describe “Michael” as being handled with an unusually high level of control, more so than typical major releases. This heightened level of oversight is widely believed to be linked to the involvement of the Michael Jackson Estate, known for its careful management of the artist’s legacy.

Finally, fans in Taiwan can mark their calendars for April 21, when a special preview screening of the film will take place ahead of its wider release. With presales launching, exclusive items in limited supply, and a mysterious official event on the horizon, anticipation for “Michael” continues to grow across the region.

  1. Ive been a fan since their beggining. Saw them perform in 1973 and again in 75. Have all the 45’s and albums & the reissues when compact discs were produced in the 90s. My only regret, is he would still be here most likely, if his life wasnt taken purposely due to fear of political, economical and influence among his power to change the world. Its sad the film wont bring justice to his family in essence of bringing consciousness to those who want a career in the industry. Leave record companies alone!

  2. Leave Michael Jackson alone!!!! He was a dynamic performer, a great singer, and a unbelievable dancer. Let’s just leave it at that He will never die in our minds and memories. He has given so much to all of us, why can’t you just leave him alone. Let him rest in peace ! He did give so much of himself to us, can’t you just accept it and enjoy what he left us with,?? Besides the king of rock and roll (Elvis Pressley) michael was number one on his own platform!!!
