Well this is a very disappointed and unfair moment in TV history!
The Executives of the Simpsons have decided to mute Michael Jackson based on the so called documentary: “Leaving Neverland”
A classic episode of “The Simpsons” featuring Michael Jackson’s voice will be removed from circulation, the show’s longtime executive producer, James L. Brooks, said.
“It feels clearly the only choice to make”Brooks said of the 1991 episode in which Michael Jackson voiced the character of a patient in a mental hospital who believes he is the pop star.
“This was a treasured episode,” said Brooks. “There are a lot of great memories we have wrapped up in that one, and this certainly doesn’t allow them to remain.”
“I’m against book burning of any kind. But this is our book, and we’re allowed to take out a chapter.”
‘Stark Raving Dad’, which first aired in the United States back in September 1991, sees Homer committed to a mental institution where he meets a huge, bald man named Leon Kompowsky (who claims to be Michael Jackson). Jackson pitched the idea to Simpsons creator Matt Groening over the phone one night and went uncredited for the appearance for contractual reasons (though Kompowsky’s singing voice was actually performed by a soundalike). Jackson wrote the song ‘Happy Birthday Lisa’ for the episode.
‘Stark Raving Dad’ will be removed from syndication, Simpsons World on FXX, and future prints of DVD sets, but Brooks warned the process would take some time.
I am not sure what to say here! Fans can contact FX Networks and complain to the FCC to try to show how unfair this is!
