“Rockin’ Robin” changing hands

Reservoir, a New York based independent music rightsholder has acquired 16,000 copyrights songs by bringing Shapiro Bernstein into its portfolio.

What is that to do with MJ you might ask?

Shapiro Bernstein is holding the copyrights for one MJ song and multiple Jackson 5 songs: “Rockin’ Robin” (MJ), “Little Bitty Pretty One”, “If You Want Heaven” and “Someone’s in my Love Light” are among them!

Shapiro Bernstein also have songs from The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Edith Piaf, Bob Dylan, Elton John and many more.

Shapiro Bernstein President Michael Brettler, the fourth-generation leader in the company’s history, said: “Since the beginning, my family has built and overseen a catalog of incredibly special songs and legendary songwriters that has stood the test of time. It is with enormous pride that we have found a partner in Reservoir, another family-owned, independent company, for the next chapter of this legacy.”

It is unclear how much Reservoir has paid for the acquisition or what they are planning to do with the rights of those songs. We might hear “Rockin’ Robin” in movies or adverts soon…
