Fans looking to add something special to their Michael Jackson collection now have a new option, with 18 previously unreleased photographs of the King of Pop available as fine-art prints from Sonic Editions.
Released to coincide with what would have been Michael Jackson’s 68th birthday on August 29, the collection brings together photographs spanning several periods of Michael’s extraordinary career, from his early years with The Jackson 5 through his solo superstardom.
The selection includes a fascinating variety of images, including photographs taken at the Jackson family home in Los Angeles, Michael on tour in Manchester, candid moments on the streets of London and performance images from Switzerland. The collection covers the 1970s through the 1990s, offering fans photographs from different stages of Michael’s career rather than focusing on a single era.
There are 18 photographs in total, with each image available in five different sizes. Fans can choose between an unframed print or a black or white framed version.
Prices start at $99 for a 4 × 11-inch unframed print, while framed editions start at $189. For collectors looking for a larger statement piece, the biggest 37 × 26-inch print is priced at $999.
Made for collectors
Sonic Editions specialises in turning archival photography into collectible fine-art pieces. According to the company, its framed Michael Jackson prints are made to order using solid wood mouldings, shatterproof gallery-grade Perspex and archival Fuji Crystal Archive paper.
Each photograph is mounted using conservation-grade materials, individually numbered and comes with information about the story behind the photograph on the reverse.
The company has also developed collections featuring other major names in music and popular culture, making these Michael Jackson photographs part of a wider range of archival photography presented as collectible artwork.
For Michael Jackson fans, however, the appeal is undoubtedly in the photographs themselves. Some of the images offer glimpses away from the familiar concert and promotional shots, giving collectors the opportunity to own a piece of Michael’s visual history that may not have been widely seen before.
The prints are currently available to purchase from Sonic Editions, with the company stating that framed editions generally take 2–5 business days to process, while print-only editions take 2–3 business days.
