Petition for Michael Jackson Day in Los Angeles

After the success of honoring Michael Jackson in Indiana last year, proclaiming that the 65th Anniversary of Michael Jackson’s birth, August 29, 2023 to be named Michael Jackson Day in Indiana Senate District 3 which was launched by a fan; another fan, Ron Pia, has jumped on the bandwagon to do the same for Los Angeles.

Pia launched a petition to ask Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass to make August 29th a Michael Jackson Day.

Najee Ali, Director of Project Islamic Hope, supports the initiative and emphasizes that Los Angeles, where Michael lived and tragically passed away, should commemorate its own cultural and philanthropic icon.

“Michael was born in Gary, Indiana along with all his siblings but he lived the majority of his life in Los Angeles with his family members where he also tragically died. Los Angeles should have a Michael Jackson Day in memory of its own cultural and philanthropic icon,” stated Najee Ali Director of Project Islamic Hope.

A gathering is scheduled for Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Hollywood Walk of Fame location of Michael Jackson’s star on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles at 1pm local time. Pia has made flyers and signs to go along and push signatures to the petition that only accounts just over 1,200 as off today.

Ron Pia is well known in the fan community for travelling across the US and organising live streams from official events, Jackson’s concerts, MJ related locations; asking donations from fans for different events such as putting cards or flowers at Forest Lawn for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Halloween… his latest venture is to make a statue of Bubbles to be donated to the Center For Great Apes where Bubbles lives. He is asking for $17,000 for the statue and promising fans who donate more than $100 to have their names on a plaque by the statue. He has already raised just under $2,000.
