Original ‘Thriller’ dancer recreates Michael Jackson video on Halloween in Buffalo

Something evil was lurking in the dark on Halloween in Western New York: A flash mob.

The Future Dance Studio in Hamburg, N.Y., put on a show outside of the Osteria restaurant at the corner of Franklin and Mohawk in downtown Buffalo on Saturday, Oct. 31. About 60 dancers dressed as zombies stumbled around the street while Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” played loudly.

After about a minute, the crowd convulsed into position and began recreating the 1983 smash hit and music video. Onlookers cheered as they did their best MJ moves.

According to YouTube user Jody Warner, who posted a video clip of the performance, one of the female dancers — Marcea Lane — was in the original “Thriller” video.

“I haven’t performed it in 20 something years,” Lane told TWC News. “I said if I do do it again I want it to be the real deal. These guys are the only ones that really do it the right way.”

WYRK reports the dance studio has made the stunt an annual tradition. Lane told TWC News she hopes to get more of the original “Thriller” dancers to join the fun next year.
