Michael Jackson Statue in Austria gets protection

The Statue of Michael Jackson in Mistelbach in Austria, placed and paid by Michael Jackson fans is getting an extra protection. The 300kg statue placed in 2009 is visited by fans around the world especially during his Death anniversary or birthday.

But the Statue is not everybody’s taste! Martina Kainz, who campaigned to get the statue placed in the park and dealt with all the legal obligations, donations and production of the statue said that the statue got vandalised few times.

The vandals have sprayed Nazi-related symbols and some of the body parts of the statue were often missing or damaged.

The vandalism was happening often and got fans to donate more for the cleaning and repairs for many years.

To avoid this to happen again, The fan group decided to fence the 2 metre high statue with a fence. The fence was financed thanks to fans’ donation but mostly sponsored by the fencing company “Guardi” which spent over €4,000 to place the fence around Michael Jackson.
