Michael Jackson fans in Japan will soon have a new collectible to look out for, as a series of pin badges featuring the King of Pop is set to arrive in capsule toy vending machines across the country.
The Japanese release is scheduled to begin on October 16, 2026, with the badges available at selected HMV stores, gashacoco locations, Gashapon Department stores and other participating capsule toy outlets. The release is being organised by Lawson Entertainment.
The collection consists of two series, each featuring 10 different designs, making 20 pin badges in total. The designs include Michael’s iconic portraits, album artwork and logos, offering fans a variety of looks to collect.
Each pin badge measures approximately 25 x 25 mm and comes inside a capsule with a specially designed backing card. Each try costs 500 yen, including tax.
Two collections, 20 designs
Volume 1 includes three album artwork designs, one logo design and six portrait designs. Volume 2 features four album artwork designs, one logo design and five portrait designs.
As with other capsule toy releases, fans will not be able to choose their design before purchasing. The vending machines may also dispense the same design more than once, so completing the collection could require a little luck.
Where can fans find them?
The pin badges are scheduled to roll out from October 16 at 17 HMV stores in Japan, alongside selected gashacoco and Gashapon Department locations and other capsule toy outlets. Availability may vary by store, and some locations may not stock the collection. Individual stores may also begin selling the badges on different dates, and supplies are limited.
The collection is a Japan-exclusive release, making it an interesting find for Michael Jackson collectors visiting the country or fans who can ask someone in Japan to look out for the badges.
For fans who enjoy collecting Michael Jackson memorabilia, these small capsule-sized items offer another way to celebrate his music, imagery and enduring legacy.
