A WIRRAL school “thrilled” the world on Saturday as part of a worldwide attempt to break the record for the largest simultaneous dance to Michael Jackson’s iconic Thriller.

Ridgeway High School students took part in the “Thrill the World” event on Saturday.

Thousands of people from cities around the world danced to Thriller at precisely the same time.

And right on cue, 31 Ridgeway zombies ‘awoke’ from their graves to thrill family and friends.

Jo Love, the event organiser at Ridgeway High School, has been working hard with students on the dance routine and on zombie clothing and make-up ideas.

She said: “It’s been a lot of hard work —but we were ready on the night. Preparing and practising the choreography has been no easy feat.

“It took weeks of repeatedly rehearsing difficult dance steps and hours of preparing zombie costumes and make-up to prepare for this record-breaking attempt.

“Right on cue, 31 Zombies awoke from their graves and thrilled family and friends who had come along to offer their support.

“Everyone pulled together as a team, helping each other remember the steps, sharing costume ideas and working out how they were going to create their ‘zombie’ look.”
Headteacher Tony Taylor added: “This has been a great event for our local community. Miss Love and the students and staff have done an amazing job. I would also like to thank the parents, carers and responsible adults who were invaluable in supporting this occasion.”
