Lucero paid tribute to Michael Jackson in the 90s

Who is Lucero you may ask!

Lucero is a Mexican singer and entertainer that has sold more than 30 million records worldwide and often called “the Americas Girlfriend”. She had a solid career throughout the 80s but her career exploded in the 90s and was nominated for Pop Female Singer. She released over 30 albums, she appeared in 9 films, had roles in Soap operas for over 3 decades and was on different TV shows.

So yeap, Lucero is a big deal for Latin Americans.

Recently on social media, her fans and newest fans rediscovered footage of her tour from 1993-1994, promoting her album “Siempre Contigo”. In this tour, she included a segment in tribute to the King of Pop! Lucero performed “Smooth Criminal”, “Thriller”, “Billie Jean” and “The Way You Make Me Feel” among other songs. She even replicate the choreography, wear the fedora and Thriller Jacket and do the moonwalk! Thanks to TikTok, those moments are coming back to our attention but here the full segment, and yes, sorry for the poor quality:

Lucero is clearly a huge Michael Jackson fan. In 2010, she was asked to be part of “Somos El Mundo 25 Por Haiti”, the Spanish version of “We are The World 25 for Haiti” based on the 1985 hit “We Are The World”.

She was so busy at the time with a soap opera and a new album but couldn’t refuse to be part of this so she recorded her part for the chorus of the song.
