The Estate of Kenny Rogers is auctioning items from the singer through Julien’s Auctions. The Auction is taking place today October 21 and this week-end October 22, 23.
Some of the items from the Estate to grab are related to Michael Jackson such as 2 pictures taken by Rogers:
An original photographic portrait of Michael Jackson taken by Kenny Rogers and used in his book Your Friends and Mine (Boston, MA: Little Brown & Co, 1987), that is inscribed by Michael Jackson.
In the book Kenny writes:
“Michael Jackson is unique, both as an individual and as a performer. Yet while I’d been around him many times, I never honestly felt I knew him until we spent a day together in the photography studio.”
“As I explained earlier, Michael had invited Christopher, my youngest son, to his home to see his zoo. They had such a good time that Michael, who heard I was a photographer, suggested I take a picture of him and Christopher in my studio. I told him of my idea for this book and asked him to bring his chimpanzee, Bubbles.”
“There were maybe twenty five people in the studio that day, and the chimp was the center of attention. That meant that the focus was off Michael, and I think the relative anonymity gave him a chance to relax. And Bubbles was so human it was almost frightening. He would take Christopher by the hand, walk him over to the refrigerator, open it, take out a banana, and hand it to him. Christopher was amazed we all were.”
“The session was the first time I’d had a chance to be one on one with Michael. It means a lot to me to be able say that not only do I love his music, but I also like him very much as a person and consider him a friend.”
Along the bottom edge of the portrait Michael Jackson writes, “To Kenny Rogers/ One of the kindest men I’ve ever met/ Thanx/ Love/ Michael Jackson/ 1998.”

A complete program, tickets, and flyers from the Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary show at Madison Square Garden, attended by Kenny Rogers. The event took place on September 7th and September 10th 2001. Michael Jackson had an appearance on Rogers 1981 song Goin’ Back to Alabama.
This lot includes one program for the event, two tickets to the event, two flyers for the reunion of The Jacksons, and untorn two meal tickets from the event used under “Mr. Kenny Rogers” and “K. Rogers Guest”. The event tickets are for the Friday show, one is torn.
Another concert ticket for Sade from the Lovers Rock Tour is included.
And A framed group of signed soloist leadsheets from the charity single “We Are the World” performed by the supergroup USA for Africa.
In an effort to raise funds for Africa, major music artists recorded a song that was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, and produced by Michael Omartian and Quincy Jones. The song became the eighth best-selling single of all time with over twenty million copies being sold.
This example, belonging to Kenny Rogers, is signed by many of the artists that participated in the single. Many of the music artists included personalized inscriptions to Kenny Rogers.
