A new generation continues to feel the ripple effect of Michael Jackson’s artistry and rising K-pop boy group Newbeat is proudly wearing that influence on their sleeve.
The septet is gearing up to release their first mini-album Louder Than Ever, and according to the members, the spirit of the King of Pop is very much present throughout the project. From stage presence to sharp choreography, the group openly credits Michael as a guiding force in shaping their debut era.

“We’ve taken a lot of inspiration from Michael Jackson,” member Jeon Yeoyeojeong shared during a recent interview. “From the signature hat-grab to expressive hip movements — those small details show how much his performance style has guided us.”
As any MJ fan knows, these classic moves aren’t just gestures — they’re pieces of pop culture history. And Newbeat say they studied them with intention, aiming to honor the legend while developing their own identity.
Global Vision, MJ-Inspired Confidence
Louder Than Ever marks Newbeat’s first all-English project, created with hopes of reaching fans worldwide much like Michael did throughout his career.
“We wanted to connect with listeners globally,” said Park Min-seok. “The new EP presents who we are and where we’re going.”
The title track “Look So Good” embraces themes Michael championed throughout his work, self-love, confidence and owning the spotlight. Mixing Y2K retro pop moods with modern edge, it introduces the group’s sound with bold charisma.
Other tracks include the explosive “Loud,” genre-blending cuts “Unbelievable” and “Natural,” and a noticeable shift toward powerful, energetic production.
“Newbeat is about creating new sounds,” said Hong Min-sung. “Like our debut message — we’re not afraid of change. We want to keep challenging ourselves, just like great artists before us.”
Performance First — Just the Way MJ Did It
Calling themselves “free-spirited individuals,” Newbeat emphasize their teamwork and on-stage chemistry, another nod to Michael’s legacy of precision and passion in performance.
“When the seven of us come together, the synergy becomes electrifying,” Jeon added.
And the group already has its sights set on live shows.
“We’ve been on festival stages, but we want our own concert soon to really connect with fans,” said Choi Seo-hyun.

A New Generation Honours the Greatest
It’s always exciting to see young talent openly reference Michael Jackson not as a trend, but as the gold standard of performance and artistic vision. With their debut EP, Newbeat aims to bring that same dedication to excellence into their own era — blending homage with fresh ambition.
Louder Than Ever drops Thursday evening, and we’ll be watching closely to see how this promising act continues to channel the magic of MJ while carving out their own rhythm in global pop.
And check their dance moves… I spy with my little eye… few MJ moves!
