Jordan Neely dies aged 30

The Michael Jackson fan community is like a big family. Jordan Neely was well known in New York community for impersonating the King of Pop, mostly performing in Times Squares and in the subway.

Fans will recognise him when he was photographed in 2009 outside the Regal Cinemas in Times Square before the premiere of “THIS IS IT”. He was a talented impersonator, great dancer and performer.

Jordan was also homeless and had mental health issues which got worse after the death of his mother in 2007.

His dad Andre Zachery, who lost touch with his son years ago, recalled when 4 years old Jordan discover Michael Jackson and dancing on the block.

Jordan died on Monday afternoon after a confrontation with passengers. Jordan seemed very frustrated and complained of hunger and thirst but had not physically attacked anyone. A former US Marine took on himself to diffuse the situation by headlocking Jordan. He was later pronounced dead in hospital. Police investigation is still on going.

His death has sparked social medias, not only in the fan community but also in New York. A protest march through the Broadway-Lafayette subway station where Jordan was cared by first responders, took place yesterday to denounce the inequalities, wrongful death, mental illness and injustice. Chants of ‘black lives matter’, ‘justice for Jordan Neely’, ‘F*** Eric Adams’ and ‘the homeless issue’ could be heard.

His death comes amid a period of heightened public attention to the homeless and mentally ill on the streets and subways of New York City.

A GoFundMe page has been set to help the family to cover the cost of the funeral. If you would like to help DONATE HERE.

Rest in peace Jordan Neely

    • Hi Alex!
That’s a bit rude! Yes we monitor comments since Leaving Neverland to avoid any unwanted comments on our positive website. So As we based in the UK, we need someone to physically approve the comments one by one and during the time the admins are awake. Sorry if you feel we cannot rest to approve your comments. Additionally, if a MJ fan is being aggressive and rude, we can also decide to spam all their comments which is understandable, don’t you think?
