Jaafar Jackson has added another award nomination to his growing list of accolades for his portrayal of Michael Jackson in Michael, receiving a nomination for The Garland King, the Best Actor award at the 2026 Creators’ Choice Awards.
While the Creators’ Choice Awards are still a relatively new event, this year marks only its second edition, the nomination is another sign that Jaafar’s performance continues to be recognized across a variety of awards bodies following the biopic’s phenomenal success.
The Creators’ Choice Awards are organized around a voting body made up of content creators, who cast their votes across a range of film categories to recognize their favorite performances and productions from the first half of the year. While they are not among Hollywood’s major industry awards such as the Academy Awards, BAFTA, SAG Awards or Golden Globes, they offer another platform celebrating achievements in cinema.
The nominees for The Garland King (Best Actor of the Mid-Year) are:
- Jaafar Jackson – Michael
- Robert Aramayo – I Swear
- Robert Pattinson – The Drama
- Michael Johnston – Obsession
- Ryan Gosling – Project Hail Mary
- Ralph Fiennes – 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
According to the organizers, voting by their panel—known as “The Economy”—begins this week, with the winner set to be announced during the Creators’ Choice Awards ceremony on August 7 at 8 PM ET, streamed live on YouTube.
Since Michael premiered earlier this year, Jaafar Jackson has received widespread praise from audiences and critics alike, earning multiple nominations and awards while helping the film become the highest-grossing biographical film of all time, surpassing the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office.
Congratulations to Jaafar Jackson on yet another well-deserved nomination, and best of luck at the Creators’ Choice Awards next month.
