In January of 1994 Michael Jackson made the call that the team would move from Los Angeles to New York and start his new album HIStory in a studio called The Hit Factory. This was more than a building – it was a recording palace. We stayed for nearly a year working on songs like Scream, Childhood, Money, Earth Song and They Don’t Care About Us.

My name is Brad Sundberg. I was Michael’s technical director and part of the engineering team on four studio albums, including “Bad”, “Dangerous”, “HIStory”, and “Blood On The Dance Floor.” (Michael even gave me the nickname “Really, Really Brad”.)

We kept the New York team small and lean even as the album grew. One of those team members was Grammy winning engineer Tony Black. Tony and I have remained friends for more than 31 years, and his memories and stories from the HIStory project are equally insightful and funny.

I haven’t stepped foot inside of 421 W. 54th since 1995, and I am so excited to walk through those doors again and share some stories, memories and laughs with Tony.

Join us for a day filled with memories, laughter, and of course music in the building where HIStory was recorded.

    Schedule:

12:00pm – 3:00pm: HIStory and Hit Factory stories with Tony Black

    3:00pm – 4:00pm: Lunch Break

4:00pm – 7:00pm: An Evening In The Studio With MJ

At “In The Studio With MJ” you will see and hear what it was like to be in the studio with Michael, the engineers, and producers who created the songs, through a carefully crafted timeline of music, video and behind-the-scenes info. From “Captain Eo” to “Man In The Mirror” to “Smile”, I was there, and you will hear about my time working with Michael.

Truly a very unique experience for Michael’s fans, as well as those who love music and want to peek “behind the curtain”.
