As you might all have seen on social medias, Chinese fans have actively regrouped against the so called documentary “Leaving Neverland”.
Speaking to one of the organizer, Keen Zhang, President of Michael Jackson Chinese Fanclub (MJJCN), we found out more about their protests and their campaign against the movie, HBO and Channel 4.
Keen told us that the fans in China were outraged by the documentary which was announced at Sundance Film Festival last month and they mobilized a huge protest campaign across the country.
During the past two weeks, Chinese fans gathered in 17 cities to show their support to Michael Jackson and their anger against the documentary. Hundreds of fans also sent #MJInnocent selfies to MJJCN to post online to show their support.
From the capital city Beijing, to metropolis Shanghai, and to far-side of China such as Shangri-La in Yunnan province and Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the initiative spread to the whole China.
A fact that we didn’t know but the Chinese Government does not allow demonstrations or protests in public! Keen insists that those fans protesting in public are very courageous! And we cannot agree more! They are a clear example to all of us and we cannot express how thankful we are for what they did or do!
Keen also said:
We hoped our campaign can also inspire all the fans all over the world to continue fighting for justice for Michael Jackson, and send warnings to those liars, vultures and opportunists. Some powers try to erase or taint Michael’s legacy in the history, but we can’t stand that and we will move to fight that.
The fans of China have also mobilized their efforts to donate a huge amount of money to two causes:
– The #MJINNOCENT campaign in London which will result of conter-advertising on London Buses and News papers
– The Taj Jackson’s documentary series
More protests are planned this week-end in other parts of the country and Keen insists:
Michael Jackson is innocent and this was proven in court. He doesn’t deserve another trial in the public opinion.
