AUCTION: Michael Jackson personal, tour and video items for sale!

More items of Michael Jackson will be on sale at Julien’s Auctions on December 1 & 2, 2020.

Along side with personal items such as photo albums, t-shirts, shoes, awards, the auction will also have tour merchandise and items from Tours and videos.

Some items are historical such as
A Michael Jackson “Leave Me Alone” Cannes Gold Lion Award presented to Jim Blashfield for Michael Jackson’s “Leave Me Alone” music video in 1989 at the 36e Festival International du Film Publicitaire.

A pair of black leather penny loafers, likely by Florsheim and likely size 9 1/2, though label and size are worn off due to use. The sole of the left shoe is signed in black felt-tip ink “Love/ Michael Jackson,” and the sole of the right shoe is also signed in black felt-tip ink “Michael Jackson.” Included is a handwritten letter from the current owner reading in part “I have purchased this black pair of Florsheim shoes size 9.5 in 1996 in Monte Carlo from original owner who meet Michael Jackson before and after his show in … Belgium on the 22 July 1992 during the Dangerous Work Tour … [and included is] the original backstage concert pass” [sic] as well as another letter from a European signature specialist.

A pair of black lace-up Track ‘N Trail boots worn by Michael Jackson in his 1995 music video for “Stranger in Moscow.” These were the boots worn by Jackson in the dry scenes of the video.

Michael Jackson Apollo performance costume; a white silk, long-sleeve button-down shirt sold together with a white cotton, right-hand forearm brace. The brace has been customized by attaching the laces to three separate metal buckles reading “WHBCO,” each with Velcro closures. The brace shows wear consistent with use and extensive makeup residue. These pieces were worn together during Michael Jackson’s performance of the song “Black or White” with rock guitarist Dave Navarro at the Apollo Theater. Jackson performed three songs there on April 24, 2002, for “A Night At The Apollo,” a Democratic National Fundraiser that reportedly raised $2.5 million for a national voter registration drive. Jackson was introduced to the stage that night by President Clinton. Jackson gifted the items to the fiancé of a colleague backstage with well wishes for their engagement. This was Jackson’s last public performance in the United States.

A custom black jacket with satin lapels with rhinestone accents on the left lapel, cuffs, and armband on right sleeve, worn by Michael Jackson to the MTV Video Music Awards held at Yoyogi National Athletic Stadium in Tokyo on May 27, 2006. Jackson won the Legend Award that year. The jacket additionally has a rhinestone-encrusted sun motif on the back and closes with a single button on the front. Label reads “ Tailored By Ghulam Mohammed.” The jacket was donated to charity by a storage company that had been storing items on behalf of Jackson. As payment for the storage was never received, the company donated the jacket to a charity.

A white nylon right-hand glove with a silver-tone metal hook-and-eye closure at the back wrist, entirely adorned with hand-sewn Swarovski loch rosen crystals graduating in size from the fingertips to the wrist. The glove, made by Bill Whitten, was used by the star onstage throughout the historic tour where all six brothers performed together as The Jacksons. This glove was gifted to and comes directly from the estate of Bill Bray, Michael Jackson’s longtime personal security guard. Bray, a former law enforcement officer, began working for the Jackson family when Michael was a child. He was one of the longest serving members of Jackson’s team and, by all accounts, served as a father figure for Jackson. Jackson commented in his 1988 autobiography, Moonwalk, “He travels with me everywhere and occasionally he’s my only companion on short trips. I can’t imagine my life without Bill.” Jackson also penned a personal letter to Bray that has been widely publicized, stating that “Joseph [Jackson’s father] never ever had time for me, he only saw me as a way for him to make money what I’m simply trying to say is thank you for being a father. I don’t know what would have happened to me if you were not around! I love you, M.J.” This glove was in the possession of Bray and now his estate since the day he received it directly from Jackson.

A tall, foldable director’s chair made of dark-stained wood with a brown canvas seat and a same color backrest with text on the front and back reading “Michael Jackson.” Consigned directly by the widow of Bill Bray, Jackson’s longtime head of security, who relayed the story that Jackson used this chair during the filming of his 1986 Captain EO film that was shown at Disney theme parks for over a decade.

The auction will also contain items from the Jackson 5, personal drawings, signatures and so on…
