Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil has been entertaining audiences in Las Vegas for more than 13 years, but on Saturday night, September 26, some lucky American Express Card Members were given the opportunity to experience the production in a very different way.
Called “A Night at Michael Jackson ONE® by Cirque du Soleil® Presented by American Express,” the exclusive experience took place at the Michael Jackson ONE Theatre at Mandalay Bay following the evening performance.
The event was promoted as a special American Express Card Member experience and featured a post-show conversation with members of the Michael Jackson ONE cast and/or creative team.
Guests were informed that the conversation would begin approximately 10 minutes after the performance concluded, allowing them to remain in the theatre rather than simply heading home after the final curtain.
And for Michael Jackson fans, that promised something rather special: the opportunity to hear directly from some of the people responsible for bringing Michael’s music, choreography and vision to life on the Las Vegas stage.
American Express currently lists A Night at Michael Jackson ONE among its Card Member-only entertainment experiences, placing the production alongside a range of exclusive cultural and entertainment opportunities offered to its customers.
While post-show conversations with performers are not unusual in the world of theatre, this particular event appears to have offered guests considerably more insight into the production of Michael Jackson ONE.
The experience also appears to have included access beyond what a normal ticket holder would experience, with guests reportedly being taken behind the scenes to discover more about how the spectacular production is created.
That element is particularly fascinating for Michael Jackson fans.
Michael Jackson ONE is far more than a collection of Michael’s greatest hits. The production combines his music with choreography, aerial work, acrobatics, costumes, lighting, video, special effects and elaborate staging, creating a constantly moving world inspired by Michael and his artistry.
Since opening at Mandalay Bay in 2013, the production has become one of the longest-running Michael Jackson productions in Las Vegas, welcoming audiences from around the world.
The show celebrated its 5,000th performance in June 2024, another milestone in a remarkable Las Vegas run.
For those attending Saturday night’s special American Express event, however, the focus wasn’t simply on watching Michael Jackson ONE.
It was about discovering what happens once the curtain comes down.
The post-show conversation offered an opportunity to hear from members of the team behind the production, while the additional behind-the-scenes access gave guests a glimpse into the enormous amount of work that goes into creating the world of Michael Jackson ONE.
At the moment, details of exactly what was shown to guests backstage have not been publicly announced, and we are hoping to bring you more information from someone who attended the event.
But if the experience did indeed provide Card Members with access to areas normally unseen by the audience, it represents a particularly rare opportunity for Michael Jackson fans.
After all, millions of people have sat inside the Michael Jackson ONE Theatre and watched the performers take the stage.
Very few get to see what happens behind it.
