Michael Jackson’s birthday is once again bringing Moonwalkers together around the world, and this year fans in Hong Kong will have the opportunity to celebrate with special screenings of Moonwalker.
MCL Cinemas has announced additional screenings of Michael Jackson’s 1988 musical anthology film, including a special “Moonwalkers Special Screening” designed to bring fans together just before and around Michael’s birthday on August 29.
The newly announced screening will take place on Friday, August 28 at 9:55 PM at MCL Airside in Kai Tak, with the cinema specifically highlighting its large-screen LUXE auditorium.
Another Moonwalkers special screening is scheduled for Sunday, August 30 at 2:00 PM at Festival Grand Cinema.
Both screenings will present Moonwalker in a 2K version without subtitles, allowing fans to experience the film and its iconic musical sequences on the big screen.
MCL is also offering a special collectible for the occasion. Fans attending the Moonwalkers special screening can receive an A3 folder featuring original Moonwalker poster artwork, available for collection at the corresponding cinema box office from August 28, while supplies last.
The special screenings celebrate one of Michael’s most distinctive cinematic projects. Released in 1988 during the Bad era, Moonwalker combines fantasy, action and music videos, including the iconic “Smooth Criminal” sequence, the “Leave Me Alone” short film and Michael’s performances of songs from the Bad album.
MCL lists Moonwalker as a 93-minute music and musical presentation and has also been screening the film in Hong Kong during the summer.
