One of the original HIStory statues created to promote Michael Jackson’s HIStory: Past, Present and Future – Book I album in 1995 has officially found its new home in Ängelholm, Sweden.
Back in April, we reported that this iconic statue had been purchased in Austria and transported to Sweden, where a dedicated group of fans was preparing to give it a permanent home. After months of anticipation, the official premiere took place on June 27, welcoming Michael Jackson fans from across Sweden and beyond.
Throughout the day, fans gathered around the impressive monument to admire one of the few surviving original HIStory statues. The statue’s new owner was also present, meeting visitors and sharing the remarkable journey that brought this piece of Michael Jackson history to Sweden.
The unveiling was beautifully organised by King Of Pop Fans of Sweden, who transformed the occasion into a true celebration of Michael’s legacy. We would like to thank them for organising the event and for sharing photos across social media, allowing fans around the world to experience this special day.
For many fans, the statue immediately recalls another famous HIStory monument that stood for years outside a McDonald’s restaurant in Best, Netherlands, becoming a popular pilgrimage site before it was removed in 2019. With that landmark now gone, the Ängelholm statue has the potential to become Europe’s newest must-visit destination for Michael Jackson fans.
And there is already another reason to visit.
King Of Pop Fans of Sweden has teamed up with the Danish Moo.Walkers to host a celebration of Michael Jackson’s birthday on August 29, right at the foot of the HIStory statue. Fans are invited to come together not only to admire one of the original promotional statues from 1995 but also to celebrate the life, music, and legacy of the King of Pop.
