We are not the only ones waiting for the official Michael Jackson biopic.
First, it was Taj Jackson who once again paused his documentary defending his uncle. He told fans that he is waiting for the biopic to be released to avoid any scheduling conflicts with Michael Jackson Estate projects.
Then came The Jacksons, who have repeatedly mentioned they are working on a documentary series. That project also seems to be on hold.
Just a few weeks ago, the Michael Jackson Estate itself stated that they are holding off on releases and projects — such as documentaries on Dangerous and HIStory — until Lionsgate releases the biopic. (To be honest, I doubt those were even started, given how slowly the Estate tends to plan its projects.)
And now it’s Janet Jackson? Apparently, sources close to Janet — namely her brother Randy — told the press that she has decided to pause any upcoming projects featuring her music because of the biopic. Allegedly, she wants her late brother’s movie to be completed first, out of respect for the rest of the family, including her niece and nephews, the Michael Jackson Estate, and her nephew Jaafar Jackson, who is starring in the film.
Randy – Sorry – The source emphasized that the biopic is being made with “full permission of his estate” and will cover major moments in Michael’s life, “from his childhood as the star of the Jackson 5, through the abuse by his father Joe Jackson, to his hit Thriller, the purchase of Neverland Valley, and ultimately his tragic and unexpected death on June 25, 2009,” according to the film’s synopsis.
“The effort everybody in the extended family has put into getting Michael off the ground — it’s truly been a group effort,” the source added.
“Janet, like everyone else, is extremely curious about how it’s all going to turn out.”
