As MJVibe has often reported over the years, the influence of Michael Jackson reaches far beyond music and the gaming world is no exception. Fans of the King of Pop continue to celebrate his legacy in creative and sometimes unexpected ways, and the latest example comes from the modding community surrounding Resident Evil Requiem.
Only a few weeks after the game’s release, modders are already having a field day transforming the survival-horror title. Some mods replace the terrifying monster “Chunk” with characters like Shrek or Thomas the Tank Engine, while others rework characters such as Grace Ashcroft to resemble her mother Alyssa. But one particular mod has caught the attention of both gamers and MJ fans alike.
Created by Foreverfield Mods on YouTube, the mod, titled “Michael Jackson Lickers” replaces the eerie sounds made by the game’s Licker enemies with the unmistakable voice of Michael Jackson. Instead of the usual creature noises, players hear a mix of archived interview snippets and the singer’s iconic vocal ad-libs, including his legendary “hee-hee.”
The result is both surreal and hilarious.
The mod is available as a free download through Nexus Mods, where fans can also find step-by-step instructions on how to install it. In a gameplay demonstration video, Foreverfield Mods explores one of the game’s final areas using both Leon and Grace. At one point, they enter a room filled with several Lickers, meaning multiple Michael Jackson voices echo through the lab at the same time. With the mod installed, players must still move stealthily to avoid the enemies… while trying not to laugh at the absurdity of it all.
Fan reactions have been overwhelmingly positive.
“This is pure cinema,” wrote YouTube user after watching the clip.
The moment has also spread across social media. Gaming outlet TheGameVerse shared a clip of the mod on X, where it quickly attracted attention. Even Amazon Luna chimed in on the post, responding simply: “This is wild.”
As Resident Evil Requiem continues to grow within the modding community, fans can expect even more creative and possibly stranger additions in the future. For now, though, this unexpected tribute proves once again that Michael Jackson’s presence can pop up anywhere… even in a survival-horror laboratory full of monsters.
Resident Evil Requiem is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
