The Estate has called off the Chicago run of Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough – The Michael Jackson Musical. The 2019 run of the forthcoming musical was to act as a test ahead of the show’s Broadway debut in 2020.  Currently it is still scheduled to open in New York in the Summer of 2020.

The Estate and the producers of the musical, Columbia Live Stage, are citing the cancellation is due to scheduling difficulties related to the recent strike by the actors’ union, Actors Equity. The strike, which was announced on January 7th, ended on February 8th.

MJVibe contacted the MJ Online Team to check if this story is correct, here what they say:

“As indicated in the news reporting on this, this is a direct effect of the Actor’s Equity strike. Since it’s very unusual to open directly on Broadway, the decision is actually evidence in the confidence in the shows.”

A national tour (US) for the musical has also been in confirmed and will start in Chicago, with tour dates and further locations not yet known.
