In a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Mariah Carey shared an exciting revelation: she has an unreleased duet with Michael Jackson that she had hoped to include on her latest album, Here For It All. However, she explained that the song couldn’t be released due to ongoing projects by Michael Jackson’s estate.
Carey described the track as “not in the vault, it’s right there,” indicating that it’s ready for release. She expressed her frustration, stating, “I love it, I’m so upset that it’s not coming out on this album, like it should be on there.” She further mentioned that every time she played the song for someone, their reaction was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing it as “one of his classics.” In the collaboration, Carey added new background vocals to Michael’s original track.
The reason for the delay, according to Carey, is that the estate is planning “something really huge” for his legacy. While she didn’t provide specific details, this likely refers to the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, scheduled for release on April 24, 2026. Directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jaafar Jackson, Michael’s nephew, the film has faced several delays and is now expected to be released as a two-part series. The estate’s focus on this major project has led to the postponement of other releases, including Carey’s duet.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the eventual release of the duet, hoping that once the estate’s plans are fulfilled, they will be able to enjoy this rare collaboration between two of pop music’s greatest icons.

It’s not anything I don’t think. I think she is exaggerating on some level and maybe not on another. I think she is just talking about a soundcheck/rehearsal of them doing, “She’s Out Of My Life”, for the, Michael Jackson and Friends”, 1999 concert series.
It’s sad it’s not a “new” song, but a classic one should be great anyway.
