Kingvention continues to expand its exciting lineup of special guests with the announcement that street dance pioneer Hugo “Mr. Smooth” Huizar will appear at the event in London on May 30.
Hugo Huizar is widely respected in the popping and street dance community and was among the dancers who worked with Michael Jackson during the 1980s, a period when the artist was redefining performance and choreography in pop culture.
Huizar appeared as a dancer in the memorable “Smooth Criminal” sequence from the film Moonwalker, one of the most iconic dance moments associated with Michael Jackson’s visual legacy. He also worked on the groundbreaking 3D film attraction Captain EO, which was created by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
Beyond performing alongside Michael Jackson, Huizar also spent time sharing authentic popping techniques with Michael, reflecting the influence that street dance culture had on Michael Jackson’s evolving dance style during the decade.
With more than four decades in the dance world, Hugo has performed, taught, and judged street dance events across the globe, helping preserve and promote the culture that helped inspire generations of performers.
At Kingvention, fans will have the opportunity to hear firsthand stories about working with Michael Jackson on film projects and about the role street dance played in shaping some of the King of Pop’s most memorable performances.
Kingvention will take place in London on May 30, bringing together fans from around the world to celebrate the artistry and legacy of Michael Jackson.
