Globe Carnival Club Shine at Bridgwater Carnival 2025 with electrifying Michael Jackson tribute

The streets of Bridgwater came alive on Saturday, 1 November 2025, as thousands gathered for the famous Somerset County Guy Fawkes Carnival. Among the standout moments of the night was an electrifying performance from Globe Carnival Club (GCC), who stunned audiences with their dramatic entry “Jester’s Haunt,” set to Michael Jackson’s powerful anthem “They Don’t Care About Us.”

Based in Highbridge, Somerset, Globe Carnival Club are well-known on the carnival circuit for their theatrical storytelling, intricate costumes, and bold staging. This year, they delivered a dark and mesmerising interpretation of a haunted jester realm, combining precision movement, immersive lighting, and striking makeup. What truly elevated the performance, however, was the choice of soundtrack. As the unmistakable beat of Michael Jackson’s “They Don’t Care About Us” echoed through the streets, the atmosphere shifted. The song’s intense rhythm and commanding message injected a surge of energy into the parade, captivating both spectators and judges. It was a nod to Jackson’s enduring cultural influence and a reminder of how his music continues to resonate in contemporary performance art.

The crowd reacted instantly, many singing along or cheering as the familiar beat dropped. It was a fitting tribute to the King of Pop, whose songs have long been used to inspire, provoke and energise live performance. GCC’s interpretation created a fusion of carnival tradition and pop-culture protest, giving the procession one of its most dramatic and memorable moments.

Their commitment and creativity were rightly rewarded. Globe Carnival Club secured second place in the Open Feature Mounted category, won the coveted Best Costumes award, and also achieved third place for towing vehicle driver. In a year filled with standout entries — including Ramblers Carnival Club’s historic first-place tribute “1912: All Out” — GCC still managed to assert themselves as one of the evening’s most talked-about performances.

Bridgwater Carnival once again proved why it remains one of Europe’s most spectacular illuminated events, and GCC’s bold use of Michael Jackson’s music demonstrated the timeless power and global reach of his work. For MJ fans and carnival regulars alike, it was a moment that blended theatrical tradition with pop legend excellence and one that will be remembered long after the lights fade.

MJ’s music has travelled the world, but hearing it pulse through the streets of Somerset in a stunning carnival setting was a reminder of his unparalleled legacy. Globe Carnival Club delivered a performance worthy of that legacy, and they have undoubtedly set high expectations for what they will bring to the procession next year.
