Foxy Shazam Release Michael Jackson Tribute Featuring Corey Feldman

Cincinnati-based rock band Foxy Shazam have always been known for their theatrical performances and quirky approach to music. Over the years, the band has carved out a cult following with their blend of glam rock, soul, and wild stage antics. More recently, they’ve found their way into pop culture through cameos, including appearing as The Mighty Crabjoys in James Gunn’s Superman and having their track “Oh Lord” used as the theme for season 2 of Peacemaker.

Now, the band turns their attention to one of the most iconic figures in music history: Michael Jackson. Their latest single, “You Know My Name,” is a clear homage to the King of Pop and was fittingly released around Michael’s birthday. Frontman Eric Nally explained that the inspiration came to him in a dream, where Michael reminded him of the simplicity behind a true pop song, something universal and timeless.

The music video makes no secret of its Michael Jackson influence. The opening sequence is heavily inspired by “Smooth Criminal,” setting the tone with a nightclub aesthetic that feels straight out of MJ’s world. From there, Nally channels Michael with nods to his red jacket, ponytail, sparkling glove, signature footwork, and unmistakable poses.

Adding to the tribute is the appearance of Corey Feldman, actor, musician, and longtime friend of Michael Jackson. Feldman’s presence is especially meaningful as he has consistently defended Michael over the years and has never shied away from acknowledging the positive impact Michael had on his life. His cameo elevates the video from a simple tribute to something that carries a deeper connection to Michael’s legacy.

That said, not every creative choice lands perfectly. The most questionable moment comes with the depiction of burning hair, a reference that unavoidably recalls Michael’s horrific accident during the 1984 Pepsi commercial shoot. For many fans, this feels distasteful given the seriousness of that event and the lasting physical and emotional pain it caused Michael.

Despite this misstep, the video succeeds in celebrating Michael’s artistry and cultural impact. Foxy Shazam’s over-the-top style meshes surprisingly well with the high-energy world of Michael Jackson’s music, and Feldman’s inclusion grounds the project in genuine connection rather than parody.

For fans of both Foxy Shazam and Michael Jackson, “You Know My Name” is a bold, theatrical, and heartfelt tribute, one that shows just how far Michael’s influence continues to reach across generations of artists.
