HAPPY THRILLERWEEN! The Charts Are Getting Scary!

Happy Thrillerween, everyone! Halloween is finally here, and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” is making its presence felt in the charts in a big way. But don’t put your dancing shoes away just yet and certainly keep your make-up on for another week! Most of the main results reflecting today’s Halloween celebrations will only appear in next week’s chart update, so the real story is still to come.

That said, the signs are already spectacular. In the UK, “Thriller” has climbed to #1 on the Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart, #17 on the main Singles chart, #17 on the Top 100 Songs chart and #19 on Video Streaming. It is also making strong appearances across sales, downloads and streaming. In Ireland, it has reached #16 on the Singles chart.

The United States is joining the Halloween party too. “Thriller” has climbed to #70 on the Billboard Global 200, re-entered the Global 200 excluding the US at #170, reached #13 on Digital Song Sales and returned to the Billboard Streaming Songs chart at #37. On Spotify, it has reached #10 in the US and #47 worldwide, while Apple Music has placed it at #1 in the United States, #4 in Canada and #6 in the UK. On iTunes, it has reached #1 in both the US and Portugal, with top-five positions in several other countries.

These are impressive numbers, and they reflect the growing worldwide interest in Michael Jackson’s music. The biopic has introduced his work to a new generation and brought renewed attention to his catalogue. “Thriller” naturally rises every Halloween, but with this renewed interest, 2026 could be its biggest Halloween season yet. And while the annual fan campaigns are part of the celebrations, credit where credit is due: the biopic has played a major role in bringing Michael Jackson back into the spotlight.

Elsewhere, the new Invincible reissue has made an early impact, returning to several European charts, although it has already dropped out of some UK and Dutch listings. There is more to come, with the black vinyl edition expected on November 13, which could give the album another boost.

What a way to celebrate Thrillerween! “Thriller” has reached the top of the UK Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart, broken into the UK Top 20 and made its way back into the US streaming charts. Its digital performance across multiple platforms and countries is equally encouraging.

But this is not the end of the Halloween story. Next week’s update should give us a much clearer picture of the impact of the celebrations, and we are particularly curious to see just how high “Thriller” can climb.

And don’t forget Invincible: the black vinyl reissue arrives on November 14, giving us another release to look forward to.
