The Estate of Michael Jackson has just unveiled a new collection of official Thriller-themed apparel, featuring four T-shirts and a crewneck sweatshirt inspired by Michael Jackson’s legendary Halloween anthem and its iconic short film.
The collection includes two black T-shirts featuring images from the Thriller short film, a yellow T-shirt featuring an “M” design alongside a picture of Michael, and two additional pieces featuring a rather interesting new illustration of Michael as a werewolf. The latter design is available on both a white T-shirt and a grey crewneck sweatshirt.
The prices are £30 for each T-shirt and £50 for the crewneck.
There is no denying that some of the new designs look great. We particularly like the new “M” artwork and the werewolf illustration, which offer something a little different from the usual Thriller merchandise.
However, there is one rather important detail that makes us scratch our heads: the timing!
Halloween is TOMORROW!
Yes, you read that correctly. The new collection has arrived just one day before Halloween, and while the designs are certainly appropriate for the occasion, the two new “M” designs are only available for pre-order, with availability scheduled for November.
So, if you were hoping to get your hands on one of these new designs to wear for Halloween, you are already too late!
Of course, there is also the question of delivery. Anyone familiar with the official Michael Jackson online store will know that delivery times have sometimes been a source of frustration for fans, with orders experiencing considerable delays. This makes the idea of buying Halloween merchandise at the very last minute even more questionable.
We appreciate new official merchandise, and we genuinely like the direction of some of these designs. But releasing Halloween apparel on October 30, with items not even available until November, raises a perfectly reasonable question: did the Estate miss the Halloween deadline?
Halloween merchandise is seasonal by nature. Fans want to wear it, celebrate with it and enjoy it during the Halloween season, not necessarily weeks after the occasion has passed.
Perhaps next year, the collection could arrive a little earlier, giving fans enough time to order, receive and actually enjoy their new Michael Jackson Halloween apparel.
Until then, we will admire the designs… and perhaps save them for Halloween 2027!
